This is one of our more committed volunteer positions due to the training involved and the importance of the ministry. Stephen Ministers bring, and administer, Communion to people who are unable to come to Mass to receive it. This can include going to hospitals, hospice and individual homes. Training is provided by the diocese. Please consider researching this rewarding ministry to find out if it’s right for you.
Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families.
ALASKA KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUSSUPREME COUNCIL
The local Northern Lights Council 8308 meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month after the 7PM Mass.
Our parish adopts two families around the holidays and requests gift donations through the giving tree that is on display at the parish during Christmas. The youth group wraps the gifts but they need adult volunteers who can help drive on delivery day.

Our Youth Minister, Nick, is also the Kitchen Manager for the Regional Soup Kitchen located at Immaculate Conception Church in downtown Fairbanks. He needs volunteers to help with food preparation, serving at the pass-thru window, cleaning, etc. This is a year-round ministry that could use your prayers and support.

Loving Families offers a solution for addressing homelessness while maintaining a family’s dignity and ability to raise their children together. Our parish assists by providing food and love, and coordinating a place to sleep, whether in the Parish or a local hotel.

A small group meets the morning of the 3rd Friday of each month in the Social Hall to pack lunches for local students who will need extra food at home during the weekend. The lunches are picked up by North Pole school guidance counselors and then distributed to the students.

This service opportunity is done at your own pace and on your own time. We need people to crochet or knit prayer shawls and deliver them to the church when they are finished. These made-with-love shawls are handed out to parishioners who are grieving the death of a family member, celebrating a baptism and at other appropriate times.
Contact Sue Murray at 907.460.0603.
If you are in need of a prayer shawl, or you know someone in need, please contact Katherine O'Brien, Parish Coordinator at 907.488.2595 or [email protected].
Our parish and its parishioners often need help and could benefit from the service of others. This might include a small home project, yard work, a ride to the doctor, a meal, etc. If you have a talent to share or are willing to help others when you are available, this is an excellent ministry to be involved in.
